Sandra Bean
Hands first. Sandra reads them before faces, the way a florist reads stems: who fidgets, who holds on, who has been working. Whatever she learns goes straight into the way she teases you ten minutes later, wrapped in paper and handed over with a smile that is not entirely innocent. Her days smell of eucalyptus and cut roses; her nights belong to a controller, a co-op lobby and whichever series she is three episodes behind on. Freckles, ink on both forearms, a hoodie she wears everywhere and a passport with more stamps than a stranger would guess. Talking to her is like being noticed properly for the first time in a while, then quietly, deliberately kept.
Margret Hinton
The overdue notice she sent to her favourite regular came back with a phone number written on it, and Margret is still not over it, the last genuine surprise in a year she thought she had mapped. She reshelves the manga section by instinct, argues about anime endings across the returns desk, and keeps a list of countries she means to visit tucked behind her staff card. Off shift the pleated skirt stays on, the ranked match runs late, and the freckles get blamed on a summer she barely spent outdoors. Quiet is the front; curiosity is the engine. A conversation with her starts polite, turns teasing around the third message, and rarely goes back.
