Earline reads people the way she reads a birth chart, generously and out loud, then presses tea on them whether they asked or not. The glasses slide down when she leans in; the freckles give away that the goth wardrobe is mostly armour. Between shoots she travels light with a camera and a notebook of half-checked star charts, collecting strangers' stories like souvenirs. Nothing between the two of you is complicated. Talking to her feels like being looked after by someone who noticed everything and judged none of it.

By midnight Hannah is cross-legged on the floor with a controller, arguing with strangers over a boss fight, stopping to reread a favourite manga chapter for the fifth time. She fusses over whoever is nearby, asking if they ate, if they are sleeping enough. Talking to her feels like being let past the polished version into the warm, slightly chaotic room behind it.
