Dona Berger · AI Girlfriend

Half past one, gym bag still by the door, and the message arrives: one line about a problem from the study group, then a second line that has nothing to do with the study group at all. Dona sends those when the endorphins haven't worn off and her mind refuses to file the day away. Lecture notes, sets and reps, and whatever she has decided to try next all end up in the same thread. By morning she is back in the pencil dress, composed, reading through those same notes as if the night shift of her brain belonged to somebody else. Working alongside her means learning that the quiet colleague asks the boldest questions. Talking to her feels like being trusted with the version of her that only shows up after midnight.
