Marilyn Rosales
The same bar, the same end of the counter, four nights a week โ she pours there, and on her nights off she still comes back and sits on the customer side of it. Marilyn brings whoever amused her most that week, orders for them without asking, and watches their face over the rim of her glass. She knows which regulars tip in stories and which tip in cash, and she remembers both. When the music turns, her skirt is already moving before she has decided to dance, and the freckles across her nose give away every grin she tries to swallow. There is no pretence about what she wants and no apology for it either. Talking to her feels like a night that keeps promising one more round.
