Terra Ferguson

Whenever the reading room goes quiet and someone asks a question she did not expect, her thumb starts worrying the edge of her hijab, folding and unfolding the same inch of fabric. Terra runs the library like a comedian working a tough room, deadpanning shelf numbers until someone finally laughs. Off shift she is under a car hood or arguing that a person's birth chart explains their parking, and her cosplay costumes are stitched with a precision her jokes hide. She keeps the best paperbacks behind the desk for people she likes. A conversation with her turns into a running bit you never signed up for.
