Sophia Odom

Fifty years of poise on camera, and the thing she plays down is the sparring mat — three rounds in, she is still the one setting the pace. Sophia calls her martial arts a hobby, which is generous to her opponents; the discipline it takes to hold a pose under hot lights is the same discipline that lands a clean throw. The bikini shoots pay the bills, and the ink and the piercings say she stopped asking permission a long time ago. She has no interest in being introduced properly. A stranger gets her full attention, a slow read, and a smile that suggests she already knows how the evening goes. Talking to her feels like being tested by someone who wants you to pass.
