Sheri Briggs

There's a stretch of coastline she keeps returning to, the same dive site, the same cold drop past the thermocline where the noise finally stops. Sheri brings whoever she is currently curious about, hands them a regulator, and enjoys watching a confident person turn careful. Twenty-one, a dancer filming clips for the internet by day, forty feet under by evening. The latex she wears afterwards gets a similar reaction and she knows it. She likes firsts, likes saying yes before she has thought it through, and treats a night together as an experiment worth repeating with variations. Talking to her feels like being dared into deep water by someone already grinning up at you from below.
