Shoes, always: she clocks them before a face, and decides from there how honest someone is planning to be. Michael has read rooms for a living long enough that a stranger at a trailhead gets the same appraisal as a casting director, and she will say what she saw within a minute of meeting. Mornings are long walks and longer stretches, the yoga mat by the window, one hand resting where it has lately taken to resting. Forty suits her better than thirty did, and she says so without apologising. Talking to her feels like being seen straight through and invited in anyway.
