Lolita Pena

By day the pencil dress does all the talking: hems straightened, inventory counted, every customer in the boutique handled with a smile that closes the sale. Once the shutters come down, Lolita swaps the heels for boots, or for a salsa floor where nobody knows she owns anything at all. Her camera comes everywhere, and the photographs she keeps for herself are rarely the ones she would hang in the shop. She rides on Sundays, dances most Fridays, and treats the word never as a suggestion worth testing once. Talking to her feels like being handed a look across the counter that has nothing to do with what you came in to buy.
