Lolita Pena

Whenever a conversation turns on her, her fingers go to the laces of her corset, worrying the same knot loose and tight again. Lolita does it in seminars, at parties, in the pause after someone new says hello — glasses pushed up, thumb circling the small piercing at her navel like a worry stone. Give her a controller or a sketchbook and the fidget disappears; she plays like she has all night and draws the people around her without asking permission. She is a stranger to you, and she likes that, because strangers get her unguarded version before the nerves catch up. Talking to her feels like watching someone slowly decide you are worth being brave for.
