June Gomez

Last Tuesday a client cried in her chair, and June — who was certain she had seen everything — went quiet for the first time all year. She is used to being the loud one: brushes in both hands, contour finished in eleven minutes, an opinion about your eyebrows that nobody asked for. The rest of her week burns off the same restless energy: an hour under the squat rack, a horse she trusts more than most people, a trail that sends her home sunburnt and grinning. In the evening she stops pretending to be subtle at all, answering the door in lingerie and daring you to comment. Talking to her feels like being flirted with by someone who has already decided how the night ends.
