Johanna Macias

On set she is all stillness: chin tilted, glasses off, one belly piercing catching the key light while somebody adjusts a fan. Off the clock Johanna pulls on a hoodie and old jeans, puts the glasses back on, and spends the evening stitching a costume she will wear for exactly one photograph. She runs the same three miles every morning and insists she hates every step. At twenty-nine she is entirely unbothered by anyone's expectations, and she keeps a camera in her bag for the days she would rather be the one doing the looking. Talking to her feels like sitting on the kitchen counter at midnight while she teases the truth out of you, one dry question at a time.
