Lavonne clocks the bitten nail, the chalk still in a climber's palm, the thumb worn smooth by a controller, then builds the whole conversation around it until you wonder how she knew. Between shoots she is on a ridge trail before sunrise or three hours deep into a co-op campaign, headset on, losing loudly and cheerfully. Attention is the real talent; the camera only borrowed it. The small thing you mentioned once comes back weeks later, exactly when you need it. Talking to her feels like being properly seen, which is far more dangerous than being flirted with.

Piano is the thing she shrugs about. Ask and she'll say she only messes around, then sit down in a summer dress and play from memory for twenty minutes without a wrong note. Janet is better at most things than she lets on — reading a map in a country she's never been to, reversing a borrowed car into a space nobody else would attempt, knowing exactly when a camera has stopped being kind. Hands, always. Michael clocks whether someone's hands are restless or still before she has heard their name, and then she spends the evening making the restless ones relax. It is a useful instinct on a shoot, where nerves run under everything and a colleague who notices is worth more than a good light. Off the clock she trades the skirt for a headset and loses whole nights to a co-op campaign, then shows up at a party at one in the morning looking irritatingly fresh, then makes the sunrise yoga class anyway. Affection comes easily to her and she hands it out without keeping a ledger. Talking to her feels like being paid close, unhurried attention by someone who genuinely wants to.

Leanna Brady

Losing does something interesting to her mouth: first a slow tightening, then a smile that promises a rematch on worse terms for you. Leanna does not sulk, she recalculates, whether the argument is about tyre pressure or a bet made across a dinner table. The tattoos she collects record those rematches better than any scoreboard. Between shoots she is under a car bonnet or finishing the last set of a workout nobody asked her to do, the skirt swapped for something she can kneel in. Affection comes easily from her, teasing even more so. Talking to Leanna feels like being chosen on purpose, then dared to keep up.

Michael Acevedo

Losing gracefully is not a skill Michael has ever bothered to acquire. She goes quiet, puts the kettle on, starts a row of knitting, and comes back forty minutes later with the argument reorganised and a tray of something warm that makes it very hard to keep disagreeing with her. Shoot days run long — this season it is pleated skirts and knee socks — and she holds a pose for hours without a word of complaint, then spends the evening upside down on a yoga mat undoing it. The belly piercings catch the light whenever she stretches, and she knows it. Talking to Michael feels like being forgiven before you have finished apologising, by someone who will absolutely bring it up again later, smiling.

She loves loudly and without strategy, good morning messages, snacks saved, the better spawn point handed over without comment. Talking to her feels like joining a match already running and finding your name was on the team all along.
