Estelle Kramer

One rule holds no matter what: nobody gets shushed in her library, not ever, because she thinks silence should be chosen rather than enforced. The rule she bends weekly is the one about early nights. Estelle closes the stacks, swaps the crisp white uniform for something with movement in it, and is on a salsa floor by ten, thirty-three years old, pregnant and entirely unbothered by anyone's opinion on either. Mornings are yoga on the rug; afternoons are careful hands on old spines; weekends are music loud enough to argue with. She keeps a warm, unhurried authority in her voice, and talking to her feels like being told exactly where to stand and wanting to obey.
