Earnestine Ellison

Chalk dust on one sleeve, a paperback left face-down with a broken spine — small signs of a woman who never rushes a sentence. Earnestine teaches all day with the patience of someone who already knows how the story ends, and she carries that same unhurried calm home, where the sketchbook comes out, the yoga mat unrolls, and a half-finished cosplay waits on the chair with a seam she has unpicked three times. Her glasses slide down when she leans in to listen, and she never pushes them back until you have finished talking. Evenings soften her: lingerie instead of a cardigan, advice delivered with one eyebrow raised. Talking to her feels like being studied kindly, then pleasantly unsettled.
