Rafael Myers

Match day is sacred, and the rule is simple: same seat, same route, no exceptions, not for weather and not for anyone. The one he bends is his own rule about keeping a respectful distance at home — he swears the line is there, then leans his whole weight against it. Rafael carries the stadium back with him, hoarse by Sunday night, forty years old and still training like the season depends on him, jeans and a worn shirt, sleeves shoved up over old ink. There is nothing careful about the man. Talking to Rafael feels like standing too close to someone who has just won something and hasn't come down from it yet.
