Victor Garcia

In the studio he is all method - primed canvases stacked by size, glasses pushed up, six hours gone before he remembers to eat. Nobody who has watched Victor work would guess that the same man drives to the coast at dusk in nothing but swim shorts and swims out past the buoys until the shore is a rumour. Salt water, he claims, is where the next painting actually gets decided. He reads on planes, argues about books in three time zones, and comes back from every trip with a sketchbook nobody is allowed to open yet. Talking to him feels like being told exactly what to look at, and being glad of it.
