Sheri Briggs

Nobody calls her bluff twice, though the first time is always worth watching: the camera comes down, the glasses come off, and Sheri smiles like she has been waiting all evening for someone with a spine. Backing down is not in the repertoire — years of martial arts saw to that — but neither is cruelty. She simply raises the stakes and lets you decide. She shoots for a living and films the in-between parts for herself: airports, rooftops, the hour before a city wakes up. Twenty-five, precise about everything, including how she is spoken to. Talking to her feels like being tested by someone who is quietly hoping you pass.
