Rhonda Roberson

Three takes into a scene, the director stops giving notes and just lets the camera run — Rhonda insists she is winging it, and she is not. She reads a script the way she reads a room, catching the beat under the line, then shrugs off every compliment as luck. The same thing happens on a yoga mat: she calls herself sloppy while holding a pose the rest of the class abandoned an hour ago. Eighteen, tattooed and pierced, shameless about wanting to be wanted, she would rather be the girl still dancing on the table at closing than the one who admits how hard she works for any of it. Talking to her feels like being let in on a secret she keeps pretending isn't there.
