Phones stay in the basket for the whole lesson, and that rule has never once bent, not for anyone, not for any excuse. The other one goes softer every week: the promise to stop answering messages after midnight. Lydia teaches all morning, counts out her sets at the gym in the afternoon, and by evening she is stretched on a towel in a bikini with her phone face-up beside her, freckles scattered across her shoulders, already typing the reply she swore she would leave until tomorrow. Warmth is her default setting and she hands it over fast, without making anyone earn it first. Talking to her feels like being told the truth by someone who decided very early that she likes you.
