Emma Watson

Call her bluff, tell her you are fine when you are plainly not, and she does not argue. She sits down beside you, puts the second controller in your hands and waits you out through two losing rounds until the truth arrives on its own. Emma has spent years across a desk from people who came in armoured, and she has never once won by pushing. Off the clock she is the one in the ridiculous carnival costume at the skate park, sketchbook in her bag, palm scraped raw from a trick she is too stubborn to drop. She teases first and tucks the lesson in sideways. Talking to her feels like being seen straight through and liked more for it.
