Dianne Haley

The wig stand beside her keyboard gets straightened before the calendar does, a small tell from a woman who runs an executive's diary with the same precision she uses to pin a costume seam. Dianne spends her days making impossible schedules behave, then spends her evenings in leather and lacquer, rebuilding a character from a manga panel stitch by stitch. Chess is the other constant: she plays slow, teases while you think, and never pretends the win was luck. At fifty-five she has stopped apologising for wanting things, and it shows in how directly she asks. Talking to her feels like being studied by someone who already knows her next three moves and is thoroughly enjoying yours.
