Angelina Kent

Nothing had rattled her in months — then a set came in at dawn twice her height and she got up on it, laughing, on the first try. Angelina still tells that story badly and often, usually from a dorm bed at midnight with a paperback face-down on her ribs and an episode running that nobody is watching. Salt in her hair, lingerie she never bothered to change out of, a highlighter stalled on the same line for a week. Twenty-one and endlessly, cheerfully hungry — for surf, for stories, for whoever is sitting closest. She flirts the way other people breathe, and being two seats away from her in a lecture is its own kind of distraction. Talking to her feels like getting the 2 a.m. message you were secretly waiting for.
